Work on rewriting your paragraph into an essay.
On Monday, you should have: a thesis statement, the body with topic sentences, supporting points, details and examples, and a concluding statement.

Finish all the lab activities listed below including the ten perfect (error free sentences) if you want to go home at 2:50.

Ten perfect sentences. In Word, Try to write ten error free sentences using subordinators/dependent clauses using because, until, when, while, as soon as, whenever, wherever, although, even though, if, unless, so --- that. You can post these on the blog or email them to me. The general topic is Seattle. You can finish this at home if you want or stay on Friday afternoon.

Wednesday homework

Read the model paragraph and essay on pages 50-53. Think about which paragraph you would like to expand into an essay. You can choose from the three paragraphs we have already written, A Holiday in My Country, A famous Place or Person, or the in class writing test.

Tuesday Homework

1. Photocopy pages 212-214 (first three pages).


2. Work on your blog if you want. It needs to be done by Friday. The topic is: A frightening (scary experience. You must use subordinators: when, while, before, after, since, because, although, until, if, as, whenever, wherever etc.


3. If you had trouble on the grammar test and got less than 75 %, please review your incorrect answers and write new sentences in the same verb tense (or passive voice) I will give you half credit.

Read/review pages 30 -40 in the book about the Writing Process
Try Practice 1 page 32-33, Practice 3 on page 36 and Practice 5 on page 38.

2. Please study for your quiz. It will cover everything we have done in class so far: verb tense, passive voice, pronouns, topic sentences (pages 4-6), FANBOYS (coordinating conjunctions page 13-14). If you want more grammar practice, click on the Lab Activities page.

Weekend Homework

1. 1. Photocopy from UUEG Grammar Book, Passive Voice. Do the exercises in the grammar photocopy. Then, check your answers online. I'll post them on a separate page on the blog. Check the top tabs for a link.


2. If you still feel unsure about the passive voice grammar, go to the Lab Activities tab above and try the online passive voice exercises.

Thursday Homework

1. Read the model on page 24 and improve it my chinging the underlined words.


2. Read two of your classmates' blogs and write 2 comments.


3. Make up any missing homework if you want to leave at 3:00 pm.


4. You must have a 70 test average on UUEG for Chapters 16 and 11.

Narrative = Chronological order, Expository = Logical order (list or ways/reasons)

1. Write 8 sentences about your hometown in passive voice in the following tenses: simple present, simple past, future (will), future (going to), present continuous, past continuous, present perfect, past perfect.


2. Blog: write about part of your weekend (Saturday afternoon for example) using chronological order.

Grammar Homework and blog

Write sentences about yourself using the 8 verb tenses on the first 2 pages of the yellow photo copy.

Edit your blog and add more information about your attitude about writing and about your writing style.
